SECRETARIAT

The Secretariat is responsible for the implementation of Icsid's many projects. Since May 2005, the Icsid Secretariat has been located in Montréal, Canada, in the joint Secretariat of the International Design Alliance (IDA) with the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda). The Secretariat team manages the daily operations of the organisation under the direction of the Executive Board.




Ms. Dilki de Silva
Secretary General

Ms. Dilki de Silva started her career as an intern for the World Bank, followed by several managerial positions in the UK and Canada. During her work in international economic development with the city of Toronto (1986 – 1998), she was instrumental in bringing international relations to the top of the city’s political agenda.

Ms. de Silva was appointed Icsid Secretary General and working director of the Executive Board in 2003. In this capacity, she is responsible for the financial and overall operational performance of the organisation, capacity building, strategic planning, membership relations and partnership development. She is also a consultant for various companies and organisations, and lectures on SME development, capacity building and international partnerships.

Ms. de Silva holds a BA in Business Administration majoring in Economics and International Relations from New England College, USA.


Ms. Natalie Dutil

Natalie joins Icsid after spending four years as an event coordinator for a non-profit organisation in Toronto. With a background working on event strategies as well as on-the-ground execution, Natalie helped administer large annual conference across Canada. Between finishing her undergraduate degree and post-graduate certificate in corporate communications, Natalie spent a year in Paris, fuelling her desire to travel and work in a more creative industry. Natalie is responsible for the Communications aspect of various Icsid initiatives.


Ms. Susie Hall
Project Manager

Following three years supporting an infrastructure project in the UK, Susie moved into her intended field of events organisation for a leading cancer support charity in London. As the Events Manager for one of Scotland's largest endurance events, Susie developed project planning and worked with sponsors such as The Royal Bank of Scotland and Hewlett Packard, to raise funds for local communities. As Icsid's Project Manager, her main responsibilities include; project coordination for the Icsid General Assembly, secretariat staff liaison for the 2011 IDA Congress, administering and supporting Icsid endorsed events, partnerships development and project managing Icsid Interdesigns.



Ms. Georgia Johnston
Member Relations & Administrative Assistant

During the course of her BA in languages at Queen's University in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Georgia made the most of every opportunity to travel and participated in several student exchanges and international work placements which lead to a varied work background in areas such as customer service, internet technologies and office administration. Finally settling in Canada in 2004, Georgia spent several years working in a research firm focused on the electricity industry. At Icsid, Georgia is the main point of contact for member inquiries and provides administrative support for the Secretariat and the Executive Board.


Ms. Alice Lee
Sponsorship & Partnership Development

Alice has an extensive background in arts and design related fundraising, communications, event planning and project management experience, including leadership of design initiatives in Canada.  Her professional exposure to design began as the Business Development Manager of the DXNET at the Design Exchange where she secured funding for the 3D Visualization Centre and co-founded Digifest, a festival of digital media. Alice joins Icsid during her secondment from George Brown College. Alice is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and is a graduate from the Master in Business Administration at University of Toronto.



Ms. Tu Tram Pham
Online Communications Officer

After spending three years at an email marketing company, Tu Tram had joined Icsid's team as Online Communication Officer. With a background in Graphic Design and Journalism, she helped develop websites and templates for various clients, including maintaining her own website and blog. Her experience in the online marketing world will help to further establish Icsid's online presence. She will be the main contact for all web-related issues regarding Icsid’s website, social media ventures and e-newsletters.



Ms. Andréa Springer
Programme Director World Design Capital

Andréa is an experienced Public Relations professional, with a background in corporate communications, media and investor relations, as well as project and event management. Her experience in the development of branding strategies in the fields of information technology, telecommunications, wine and spirits, fashion and industrial design led her to Icsid, where she held the position of Communications Manager from 2005-2010, during which time she established the incubation of the World Design Capital® (WDC) initiative. In her current role, she leads the strategic development of the WDC Programme internationally and oversees that operational objectives are achieved.



Ms. Claudia Sighomnou

Claudia came to Montreal after nearly seven years of service as a project coordinator.  With a background in business administration and development project management, she has worked with independent charities and school leaders to develop and implement innovative projects aimed at raising the achievement of families from local communities. Her experience in project coordination in the field of international development, in addition to her abilities in event planning, led to her current position at the Icsid Secretariat, where she coordinates the daily operations and participates in the development of the World Design Capital® (WDC) project.



Ms. Rose Wu
Accounts Administrator

As the Accounts Administrator, Rose contributes to the ongoing advancement and achievement of Icsid's strategic objectives through the facilitation of essential administrative functions. Her responsibilities include, bookkeeping, preparing financial statements, quarterly and annual reports, as well as assisting with other related accounting duties. In a more administration role, Rose provides administrative and project support to the management team at the international secretariat.
