Institute of Apparel Management
IAM offers as an institute a distinct bridge between the export and domestic sectors of the Indian Textile, Apparel & Lifestyle Industry, and foresees the convergence of the two in not too distant future.

The unique Multi-Varsity structure of IAM offers a "bouquet" of programs and courses under twinning and validation from select premier international and national institutes apart from offering its own certificate and diploma programmes.

With its strong ties with the core Fashion and Apparel industries and ownership of the industry, the institute is able to continually draw upon the industry for both faculty resources and training inputs, thereby making its teaching programmes specialised, vocationally apt and industry focused, covering the entire "fibre-to-fashion" "Concept to Consumer" chain.

Further, the vision for IAM is to position itself as a Multi-Varsity to meet the requirements for trained managers and design professionals, with a broad base of applied management skills, competencies, and knowledge typical of the dynamic Apparel Business in a global context.

Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) is the largest Export Promotion Council in the country representing over 8000 Apparel Manufacturers and Apparel exporters. AEPC's foray into Education & Training commenced with the setting up of the Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) in 1991 and Institute of Apparel Management (IAM) in 2007. The Education & Training initiatives have been given a new thrust in the recent times so that E&T become a vital function of AEPC complimenting its widely known promotional role. Keeping a futuristic outlook, the vision and strategies of the Institute of Apparel Management have been recast and aligned in a global context.

The Institute of Apparel Management (IAM) has been set up to impart high quality education for shaping a new cadre of "work place ready" professionals for both export & domestic sectors. The premier Institute is now being positioned as a "Multi-varsity for apparel & lifestyle industry" offering a bouquet of contemporary Career-oriented programmes. Being industry supported and with strong linkages in Textile, Apparel, Lifestyle Accessory exports and domestic industries, the internships and placements including classroom assignments have wholehearted support from the members of Apparel & Lifestyle Industry.

IAM as Multi-Varsity has four Academic Tracks (popularly known as schools/Departments at Univerisities) have been established from the new Academic Session: Fashion & Lifestyle Design, Merchandising & Management, Production Technology & Supply Chain Management, Brands & Retail Management. Under these four Academic tracks, groups of faculty who are highly experienced from leading Fashion & Design Colleges/Institutions have been pooled together along with high calibre professionals from industry, to have a competent faculty cadre. The Institute is offering for current Academic Session two UG Programmes viz. Fashion & Lifestyle Design and Fashion & Textiles Merchandising and two PG Programmes viz. Apparel Marketing & Merchandising and Fashion Design Management with different pathways for validated diplomas and degrees from IAMs international partners.

The IAM has strong international linkages having carefully chosen the international partners; BTEC, HND through Edexcel UK for providing validation for UG programmes which is a window to several universities around the world. Being a learner-centric Institute, the students can opt for different options through IAM including George Brown College - Toronto - Canada, Wolverhampton - UK, Ontario College of Art and Design - Toronto - Canada etc. For PG programmes, Progression agreements with international academic collaborators are in progress with several more new opportunities opening up.
