Art Center College of Design has been a leader in art and design education for almost 80 years. The College offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in a wide range of disciplines, as well as Public Programs offering design education to all ages and levels of experience. Fundamental to Art Center's core curricula is a commitment to social and cultural engagement and giving students the tools and skills with which to effect change and address real-world issues.
Art Center’s Product Design program prepares students with the skills needed to meet these new needs. Our curriculum offers a rich foundation in the design sciences including human factors, engineering principles and manufacturing processes. At the same time, students gain an essential understanding of materials, textures, colors and design trends. The College’s groundbreaking Color, Materials and Trends Exploration Laboratory (CMTEL) is a state-of-the-art research resource enabling students to investigate and identify materials with a broad range of physical and aesthetic characteristics.
Mission: To provide the best art and design education through a multi-faceted program of transdisciplinary studies and real-world application.
Achievements: #1 Industrial Design program in the US, Corporate Sponsored Projects, Collaboration with Insead Business School, Designmatters: social and humanitarian design, NGO for the United Nations, Design Research curriculum.
Long-term goals: Build Graduate programs, Increase research program, New design research complex building.
