Established in 1979, the Department is one of the leading industrial design departments in Turkey. The Department puts special emphasis on developing strong ties with local industry, cooperating with educational and professional institutions at home and abroad, and supporting the development of an interdisciplinary product development culture at METU. The Department attracts students with the most competitive profile in Turkey.
The Department offers a four-year undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor of Industrial Design (BID), an interdisciplinary Master of Science Program (MSc) in Industrial Design and a PhD program since 2004. Its joint degree MSc Program, Design for Interaction, has recently been established with the collaboration of TuDelft, the Netherlands.
