CITY MOVE INTERDESIGN WORKSHOP

Is it possible to relocate whilst safeguarding and transferring parts of, or entire societies? How can this be done effectively? How can people be involved in the process? What has design got to do with it? This was the challenge set for City Move Interdesign.
The 43rd Icsid Interdesign in 38 years took place from 22 March - 3 April 2009 in the Municipality of Gällivare, Lapland, Sweden. Hosted by Icsid Member, the Swedish Industrial Design Foundation (SVID), 38 participants from 17 different countries explored the answers to the above questions.
Results and supporting documentation from the two-week workshop will become part of a knowledge-bank detailing the process for their implementation in Sweden, as well as providing examples of how they can be adapted and implemented in other areas of the world.
