2008 SHANGHAI INTERNATIONAL CREATIVE INDUSTRY WEEK

Taking place from October 15-21, 2008, the multi-faceted event has gained a high reputation over the past three years, both at home and abroad. Organised by Shanghai Creative Industry Center in partnership with Nova Design, this year's exhibition will reach an even higher level, with increased specialisation and interactivity.

Objectives

  • To strengthen ties, communications and cooperation between different countries.
  • To raise the consciousness of innovation and intellectual property protection.
  • To build a platform for trade between the business units on creative services and products.
  • To explore the potential functions of creative industries in construction of a harmonious society.
  • To educate the market on the creative products and services in China.
  • To find the way for creative business development with the support of government.
  • To improve international reputation and image of Shanghai as a metropolis.
  • To prepare for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo.
  • To improve the role of intermediary organisations in the promotion and development of the creative industry.
  • To build on the reputation of Shanghai as a creative city.

Activities

The Shanghai International Creative Industry Week consists of three main sections, four areas of activity and six festivals.

The three sections include: Shanghai International Creative Industry Expo, Shanghai International Forum on urban creative industry, and the Yearly Appraisal on Shanghai Creative Industry.

The four areas include: The City creative section, the countries creative section, the excellent enterprises section and the active and energetic section. These sections are each located on a different level within the 1933 Old Millfun building.

The six festivals include: Holland Creative Festival, Italy Creative Festival, England Creative Festival, Hongkong Creative Festival, Shanghai Creative Festival and the First Shanghai International Steel Carve Arts Festival.
