2008 LOTUS CUP CEREMONY
2008 Lotus Cup International Industrial Design Prize is a brand new international design prize that aims to encourage and celebrate all the innovative achievements of industrial design and the contributions of designers both inside and outside of the Hunan province, China.
Through this competition, the organiser and sponsor, the Hunan Provincial Government of China, aims to promote the innovative nature of society and the business world, and to use design as a way to create an environmentally friendly and resource-effective society in Hunan Provence.
Innovation - advocating innovative concept and inspire creative passion to lead the trend in innovation age. Harmony - creating sustainable design in conformity with "resources-effective and environment-friendly society". Value - Focusing on user experience to boost products’ added-value and brand value.
Group A includes Chinese or international students majoring in design, individual designers from business or design companies, and other industrial design enthusiasts.
Group B includes enterprises in Hunan province (including joint ventures and foreign-owned enterprise) and designs that have been in the market for 2 years.
Judges and working staff of the award are not eligible to participate.
Design categories for Group B include Vehicle design, Equipment design, IT products design, Light industry products, Equipments for medical and scientific use and Brand innovation.

The final number of the prizes will be decided by the quality of the entries and the organizer may allow some awarding vacancies.
During the awarding ceremony, provincial government leaders and jury members as well as representatives of experts, industries, and designers will be invited to "Hunan Industrial Design & Innovation Forum" for public speeches and discussion.
The award-winning works will be exhibited in enterprises and education institutions throughout Hunan.
A catalogue of the 2008 "Lotus Cup" International Industrial Design Competition will be produced and published, and all award-winning entries will be published and promoted on the event website and the allied website Design Online.

The jury members of the award will be national and international famous experts recommended by the organizing committee. The jury members are: Icsid President Carlos Hinrichsen (Chile), Icsid Board Member Lorraine Justice (Hong Kong), Icsid Board Member Wen-long Chen (Taiwan), Ezio Manzini (Italy), Gordon Bruce (United States), Cheng-Neng Kuan (Taiwan), HE Renke (China) and LU Xiaobo (China).Moderators: School of Design, Hunan University and Hunan Industrial Design Association.
