8TH CII - NID DESIGN SUMMIT
With the objective of celebrating the growth of the Indian design industry and also to identify further opportunities and challenges, CII, NID and Pune Design Foundation, along with DIPP and Designindia as partners, are organising the first India Design Festival 2008 (IDF 08) from 7-14 February 2009 in Pune. The major attraction and key event of India Design Festival is the 8th CII – NID Design Summit from 11-12 February at YASHADA, Pune, India.

Expectations from National Design Policy
Since the Design Policy was announced, there has been a lot of excitement and movement in the Indian design community. A lot of interest in Indian design industry has also been seen in the last 2 years from many design-led countries. To give a further push to Indian design industry and also to celebrate its growth in the past few years, the India Design Festival 2008 (IDF 2008) will take place in Pune on 7-14 February 2009, which includes the 8th CII-NID Design Summit on 11-12 February 2009.

Background
The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the National Institute of Design (NID) have been jointly organising the annual CII - NID Design Summit since 2001. The annual Design Summit and other collaborative efforts of CII and NID also led to the announcement of National Design Policy by DIPP.Since the Design Policy was announced, there has been a lot of excitement and movement in the Indian design community. A lot of interest in Indian design industry has also been seen in the last 2 years from many design-led countries. To give a further push to Indian design industry and also to celebrate its growth in the past few years, the India Design Festival 2008 (IDF 2008) will take place in Pune on 7-14 February 2009, which includes the 8th CII-NID Design Summit on 11-12 February 2009.
