In 2008, China Red Star Design Award held large-scale touring exhibition around China, exhibiting the awarded products in seven areas, including Hong Kong, Ningbo and Dongguan. The event had a positive influence on promoting the recognition of Red Star as well as enhancing the quantity and reach of the selected products. It helped spread industrial design ideas to the manufacturing base to make an increasing number of enterprises recognise the importance of design.

In 2009, under the economic crisis, Chinese manufacturing bases increasingly consider design innovation as the strategic tool for their development. They have actively invited Red Star for exhibitions with the aim of spreading excellent design ideas, promoting cooperation between design companies and manufacture enterprises, and introducing exterior design power to local development.

From 23-26 April, Red Star launched the first stop of 2009 Domestic Tour Exhibition in Tianjin. Besides showcasing the past awarded products, it has encouraged Beijing design companies to serve local enterprises, helped the design companies to promote themselves, and has looked for more effective ways to develop of enterprises in the industry.

Red Star Tianjin Exhibition will promote Beijing and its neighboring cities in order to establish the design cooperation alliance, strengthen the visiting-, communication- and resource-sharing between the cities and to promote the economic development within the whole area.

Red Star participated in the 5th International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) in Shenzhen on 15 May. Through the exhibition, new enterprises have expressed that they now recognised the significance of industrial design for the value of products and will activity participate in Red Star. As the exhibition is a platform for promoting the past awarded enterprises and products, the exhibition has provided new marketing strategies and brought the winners new orders for approximately ￥300,000 including the Massage chair from Life Power Health Ltd., I-MU sound bulb from E-madesign Consultants Co. Ltd, and soy-bean milk machine from Guangdong Xinbao Electrical Appliances Holdings Co.Ltd.

On 16 May, the Red Star tour exhibition arrived in Fuzhou, showing a selection of 2008 awarded products developed in Fujian Province. Lin Wei, the Chairperson of Fuzhou Association for Science and Technology, has agreed to promote Red Star in Taiwan. Chen Dongliang, the Director of Beijing Industrial Design Center, delivered a speech at the 2009 Creative Industry Cross-Strait Cooperation and Development Summit Forum and introduced Beijing design companies to more than 20 local enterprises. The exhibition has enhanced the communication of design companies and enterprises as well as has spread design ideas.

From 20 May - 20 June, the Red Star touring exhibition was held at the Beijing headquarters of Li Ning Co.,Ltd, showcasing a selection of past awarded products from Red Star Design Award as well as products developed by Li Ning Co., Ltd. Students from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei Province attended the exhibition and had the opportunity to talk with the designers.
