DuocUC School of Design, the Industrial Design Career Headquarters in San Carlos Apoquindo and the Council of Delegates of Students, under the auspices of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) and the Chilean Association Business of Design (QVID), commemorated World Industrial Design Day 2010 on 29 June at San Carlos de Apoquindo, Chile.

World Industrial Design Day was celebrated through an exceptionally successful exhibition and seminar centred on the value of design in everyday life in Chile, which played host to hundreds of participants and gained extensive coverage in the Chilean capital of Santiago. This global design milestone was made possible through the collaboration of various important institutions and companies in the Santiago area.

The event was based on rediscovering the value of industrial design through the analysis and discussion of the design of 100 daily objects in Chile. The general programme was divided into various stages, including the expositions of work  created by DuocUC students and a presentation by iconic Chilean designer and architect Christian Valdes.

About World Industrial Design Day

First declared on June 29, 2007 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design, World Industrial Design Day has been established to mark the development and evolution of industrial design throughout the course of its history.

In celebration of World Industrial Design Day on 29 June 2010, the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) invites designers from around the globe to initiate events reflecting this year's theme:

 "Industrial Design: Humane solutions for a resilient world"
