Vases made of volcanic sand
Iceland's volcanic topography has allowed designer Jon Bjornsson to create unique, geometrical flower vases and bowls from black volcanic sand. Cast from paper moulds, the sand is mixed with a resin that once dried is torn away from the moulds to reveal its shape.

These particular vases and bowls are called "Flower Eruption" as these products are geared in holding flower arrangements.
Bjornsson's work was on display for Iceland's DesignMarch 2010 event in the city of Reykjavík.
