British Museum exhibits 100 objects of history
The British Museum in London is currently exhibiting 100 objects of history pulled from their vast historical collection. It's an interesting look at the objects that have existed over time (up to 2 million years ago).
The objects range in nearly every era from a Roman tombstone from the First Century to Lego blocks in the 20th Century. The BBC's website have posted a list of their objects along with their historical description of each on their interactive website.
This sewing machine was one of the first ever manufactured by Singer in 1865.

This handaxe is one of five andesite examples found at Waverley Wood, they are some of the oldest stone tools in the UK. Dating back to 500,000 years ago.

The Graphite Pencil was discovered before 1565. The Italian's were first to apply the wooden holders to the graphite rods, and the eraser was added later on in 1858.
You can discover more of these objects through the BBC's A History of the World.
