CACHE-CACHE
Observeur du Design 11

About the design

Cache-cache is a lamp with a fun attitude. Its concept establishes a new relationship between user and object: you dress it, undress it and make it yours. Sophisticated and elegant when closed, it suddenly becomes young and trendy when opened. It offers a new and amusing way to control the intensity of lighting.

The (low consumption) light source does not heat up. The upright made from methacrylate, a plastic with a milky appearance, filters and softens the light. Surrounded as if in a casket protecting the light, it creates a filtered atmosphere when the bi-stretch fabric is fully closed but the light becomes dazzling when it is open. The external sheathing, in bi-stretch neoprene fabric, gives the object a soothing aspect.

Cache-cache is a light with organic forms inspired by nature. The concept arose from observing the flower and stem of calla lilies. The interlacing fibres could be seen to enclose the sap, life and energy. The energy becomes the light, the plant sheathing a soft fabric casket.
