Montreal (Canada) - As a key initiative supporting the vision and mission of Icsid, the World Design Capital™ (WDC) project has attained a strategic point in which Icsid is currently poised to establish its foundation for future growth and branding. As a result, a new position has been created within the Icsid Secretariat to direct the project's development strategy, which includes growing the interest of potential candidate cities, establishing opportunities for Icsid Members to collaborate, facilitating the existing WDC designated city relationships, as well as identifying and developing partnership development strategies, programmes and initiatives to meet the demands of this new phase. Icsid is therefore pleased to announce that Ms Andréa Springer will take on a new role as the Programme Director for the WDC initiative – a post she moves into after having held the Icsid Communications Manager position since 2005.

Icsid is also pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to the Secretariat team. Effective immediately, Ms Tu Tram Pham and Mr Rafael Mayor-Mora will join the Secretariat to implement the organisation's mandate by contributing critical skill-sets and experience.

Rafael Mayor-Mora has a variety of experience, which coupled with his interest and passion for international communications has culminated in his position as Communications Manager – a role previously held by Andrea Springer.  Formerly Director of Event Technology at three major boutique hotels in Montreal, Rafael was responsible for event management, client relations and marketing. Prior to this, he acquired international experience having taught English at Kyushu University in Japan and as a videographer for a sustainable infrastructure project in Ethiopia, amongst other undertakings.  As Communications Manager, Rafael will continue to develop and implement Icsid's global communication strategy.

Tu Tram Pham has joined Icsid's team as Online Communications Officer after spending three years at an email marketing company. With a background in Graphic Design and Journalism, she helped develop websites and templates for various clients, including maintaining her own website and blog. Her experience in the online marketing world will help to further establish Icsid's online presence. In this role, Tu Tram is the main contact for all web-related issues regarding Icsid's website, social media ventures and e-newsletters.
