Bombardier Recreational Products Inc. (BRP), a privately-held company, is a world leader in the design, development, manufacturing, distribution and marketing of motorized recreational vehicles. Its portfolio of brands and products includes: Ski-Doo® and Lynx™ snowmobiles, Sea Doo® watercraft and sport boats, Evinrude® and Johnson® outboard engines, Can-Am™ all-terrain vehicles and roadsters, Rotax® engines and karts as well as direct fuel injection technologies such as E TEC®.

BRP assembles its various products all across the world (Canada, Austria, China, Finland, Mexico and the United-States).

Our Design and Innovation team is composed of 65 people whereby 10 of those are located in Palm Bay, Florida and the remaining 55 in a new Design and Innovation Center in Valcourt, Quebec, Canada. 35 members of the team being industrial designers, transportation designers, and graphic designers, approximately 20 other members being supporting staff such as CAD modelers, clay modelers, molders and painters. The rest of the team being advanced concept engineers, technicians, and bio-mechanic experts. Approximately 15 % of the team located in Canada is from Europe, the others being from Canada.

There is one Executive Vice-President of Design and Innovation with 4 directors and 2 managers. Each director is managing 2 families of products based on brands, the managers being in charge of advanced concepts, technical services and our lifestyle studio.

We are world leaders in most of the markets we choose to compete in. We influence the trends within these markets by creating new paradigm breaking products with the right balance of functional and emotional appeal that allows consumers to live exceptional experiences.

We feel we need to help the world of design. As such, we have accepted to share our methodology to promote the benefits of integrating design by taking part in a didactic video produced by the Ministère du Développement économique, de l'Innovation et de l'Exportation of Quebec (MDEIE) .

We are involved in our design community and recognize the work of others. We are sponsoring a lifetime achievement design award via the BRP – Sam Lapointe award.

We occasionally sponsor specific students or an entire class of transportation students in local and international schools : Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM), Université de Montréal (U. de M.), Center for Creative Studies (CCS) and the Art Center College of Design (ACCD).

Our reputation in our profession is such that we are often asked as members of juries for design related contests.
