On the year 2004, and after several and constant gatherings of some of the directors of academic design programs in Colombia, in which educational design discussion took place, and the necessity of an organized body that represents and promotes the Design in Colombia as an academic discipline became evident, was announced by these small group of members the intention of creating a design Colombian network. Therefore on the 18th. of July the first official meeting was called, 29 directors of legally established design programs sign the constitution of the "Asociación Colombiana Red Académica de Diseño / RAD" (Colombian academic design network) during the meeting based on the main mission, the network activities, rights and obligations of the members were agreed.
