Estonian Association of Designers
Estonian Association of Designers (EDL) is an association joining and representing Estonian designers; the objective of the association is to support design in the broader sense of the word. The organisation that was founded in 1989 today unites over 100 specialists in the field of product, furniture, fashion, textile and graphic design the crème de la crème of the branch of our creative industry. EDL focuses on the development of professional skills and vocational knowledge of designers. The main purpose of EDL is ensuring the high quality of its members and their respective skills, and their compliance with the code of ethics.

EDL is actively promoting design awareness. We do not regard design merely as a "make-up art" of the substantial world, but instead as a much deeper phenomenon that functions like a bridge between economy and culture, business and people. The invisible role of design is to create quality and pleasure around us, and to provide added value for the enterprise. This is what we believe in. And we are constantly attempting to prove the validity of this statement.

EDL is actively involved in improving the society's awareness of the efficiency of design, it participates in discussions regarding the generation of the Estonian development strategy and creative industry. At the initiative of EDL a project was launched in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications aimed at developing and implementing of the design policy.

Since 2006 EDL is organising the Design Night and the culture festival Arts&Lights in Tallinn. This provides opportunities for turning the focus on design and creativity and allows representatives of the creative industry to demonstrate their creations.
