IIDNC founded in June of 2004 in Ningbo city of China. Half of the members are from local colleges and half of the members are from local design companies and manufactures. Zhejiang Business Technology Institute was the first collective member and was also the collective president member. IIDNC now has two classes of membership: One is the individual membership and the other is the collective membership. IIDNC was approved by Chinese government bureau: Ningbo government as NGO and was advised by Ningbo Science and Technology Association.
