Vestel Electronics Company
"Vestel Electronics, one of the biggest electronic household goods manufacturers in Turkey, joined the Zorlu Group in 1994. Vestel Electronics, having realized a great step forward within the last 10 years is the fifth biggest private industrial institution in Turkiye, and the biggest television producer company in Europe controlling 5% of the world television market acording to the ISO data. Product range of Vestel Electronics, which gives service to his customers with a broad range of products includes TFT-LCD TV, Plasma TV, 100 HZ TV, 16:9 wide-screen TV, TV with DVD combination, digital TV, TV with memory, and mobile TV besides the 37-87 cm screen standard televisions.
ID in VESTEL in other words, history and existence adventure of ID in this huge production facility went through 1988, the first enlistment of bachelor of Industrial Designers. This adventure followed always increasing curve and became a department in R&D, and responsible for ID jobs of all VESTEL ELECTRONICS branches. The department consists of 10 designers, 2 technicians. This ID department is not only designing LCD TV, plasma TV and CRT TV but also laptops, set top boxes and many more which varied in consumer electronics concept area. The ID dept as a part of R&D has two different branches in tow different factories of Vestel, one is Digital branch focused on laptop design, the other is Vestelcom branch focused on set top boxes such as blu-ray, dvdrec,dvb etc. And the main centre is in the electronic factory focused mainly on LCD TVs.
Industrial Design Group is working as a member of R&D department. It takes its project brief from Foreign Trade of Vestel or its Domestic Marketing which are separate companies of Vestel. After the acquisition of brief, problem definition is built by the design group, new concepts are developed accordingly. The design projects are directly presented to Foreign Trade top directors who are the decision makers for new products. The approved projects are developed within the R&D department in conjunction with Mechanical Design, Hardware Electronics and Software Electronics Departments. With the collaboration of all these members of R&D and Vestel ID Group design cycle continues iteratively."
