Member Types
The structure and activities of an organisation are the key factors in determining the membership category for prospective Icsid Members.

Icsid's pillars of membership are defined as follows:

ASSOCIATE
An organisation or consultancy whose activities are consistent with the aims and objectives of Icsid may be admitted as an associate member.

Associate members may attend the General Assembly with two representatives, but have no voting rights.  Therefore members in this pillar demonstrate their support for and association with Icsid, but do not play an active role in decision making at the General Assembly.

CORPORATE
Companies committed to the value and advancement of design and who operate in accordance with the aims and objectives of Icsid may be admitted as a corporate member.

The broad range of perspectives that are introduced through Icsid corporate members helps professional, promotional and educational societies direct their efforts towards the needs of the industrial and business communities around the world.

Each corporate member of Icsid may attend the General Assembly with two delegates and has one vote.

EDUCATIONAL
Educational institutions whose activities are consistent with the aims and objectives of Icsid, or institutions offering accredited curriculum in industrial design education or research relating to industrial design may be admitted as an educational member.

Each educational member can attend the General Assembly with two delegates and has one vote.

Minimum entry requirements apply to all applicants in the educational pillar.

PROFESSIONAL
National societies or sections of a national society of professional designers, with examination or other form of regulation of entry that ensures professional standards and conduct, may be admitted as professional members.

This pillar of membership speaks to the interests of professional designers around the world and ensures a focus on issues at the designer level.

Each professional member can attend the General Assembly with two delegates and has one vote.

PROMOTIONAL
A nationwide society or section of a society or organisation that devotes its efforts to the advancement of industrial design by means of information or promotional activities may apply to be a promotional member of Icsid.

Promotional members typically work to advance industrial design by working with government and other national agencies or through initiatives that highlight effective design practice.

Each promotional member can attend the General Assembly with two delegates and has one vote.

PROMOTIONAL/PROFESSIONAL
Organisations or a section of an organisation that exists primarily to promote industrial design by undertaking projects on its own behalf or on behalf of other organisations, that is recognised by the country’s government and that has professional designers on staff may be admitted as promotional/professional members.

Each promotional/professional member can attend the General Assembly with two delegates and has one vote.
