'Icsid 50' - 2007 marks the 50th anniversary of Icsid and the organisation will be celebrating this momentous occasion in conjunction with our members. Many exciting member events will take place during the course of the year and we will join a number of these to celebrate the evolution of industrial design, and of our organisation. We hope that you will join us and take part in 'Icsid 50'.

Since the 1950s, Icsid has played a key role in the development of industrial design in the world from establishing its early definitions to establishing the needs of the first formal industrial design education systems, and from uniting designers from differing political structures to providing a voice for design on an international stage. 

The interests and activities of its member societies have always been central to Icsid’s work. It is therefore no surprise that the Icsid congress has become the largest event in its calendar.  It is most fitting therefore that the Icsid/IDSA congress (CONNECTING’07) that will take place next October in San Francisco will be the optimum occasion for Icsid members to join the Icsid 50 celebrations.  The congress will unite the global design community to discuss the role design plays in making connections between people, places, beauty, bounty, visceral and virtual.  In addition to the congress, the Icsid general assembly will take place in the two days after the congress. The general assembly is your chance to shape Icsid’s future, by voicing your opinion and participating in the decision-making process.
