THE ART CENTER SUMMIT: DESIGNING SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY
February 7-8, 2007 at Art Center College of Design
As a leader in design education and practical innovation, Art Center College of Design continues its commitment to developing new ideas about critical issues by hosting The Art Center Summit: Designing Sustainable Mobility. This first-of-its-kind Summit will bring together designers, engineers, scientists, product planners, government officials and leading educators for a critical exchange of ideas and information, with a focus on the vital role design will play in helping to identify and achieve sustainable goals.
The participants will identify and discuss design strategies encouraging consumers and businesses to embrace sustainable mobility that will facilitate constructive, real-world change. Presentations, discussions and brainstorming sessions will emphasize how designers, and those who partner and work with them, can turn ideas into profitable business solutions.
The Summit will take place at Art Center’s South Campus Wind Tunnel in Pasadena, California on February 7-8, 2007.
The keynote speaker will be Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., environmentalist, professor, lawyer and senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council.

On Tuesday, February 6th, in conjunction with the Summit, Art Center will offer a concise full-day intensive introduction to the topic of sustainability: Sustainability by Design at the Hillside campus. Industry experts and educators from around the country will share their experience and give a broad overview of sustainability concepts, a glimpse into sustainability in practice and an opportunity to see how sustainability practices might shape the future.
