ICSID 50 CELEBRATED AT THE WORKSHOP “DESIGN & COMPLEXITY”
The landscape of design is changing: new consumer tastes, new necessities, new technologies and the processes are the modern variables that determine the complexity of design. In this context, consumer culture and the nature of projects are also changing. Young designers are expressing various ways to approach and to developing projects. The mix of design disciplines provides new opportunities, but also renders the design process more complex. In order to better understand how to manage this, it is necessary to innovate in an international and heterogeneous context, promoting an encounter in order to analyse the new dynamic configurations that are changing the design process.
In this context the Trienniale of Milan and Design Innovation organised the Design & Complexity Workshop, in collaboration with the University of Montréal, Icsid and with the support of Ras.
From March 8-9, 2007 many were on hand to discuss the new shapes of complexity that inhabit the world of the design. Amongst others, Icsid President-Elect Carlos Hinrichsen, participated as a workshop speaker.
Icsid’s 50th anniversary was celebrated during a welcome cocktail.
Two other workshops will be held in May and September this year, with the aim to introduce fields and discussion in order to analyse the new complexity ahead of an International Symposium scheduled for next year.
