INDO-GERMAN WORKSHOP CONDUCTED AT NID

The National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, India (NID) and Fachhochschule Hannover, University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Germany (FHH) jointly conducted a 10-day workshop at NID from 23rd March to 2nd April 2007.

This project was developed for Reckitt Benckiser from Slough, UK, one of their biggest packaging companies. They are particularly involved in the packaging of wide range of products for air fresheners in private and public spaces, and in taxis and buses, for example.

The project involved multi-sensory design experience focusing on smell and the process of spreading fragrance. The outcome of the project was in the form of different products such as bookstand end piece, fragrant clock, games for offices, paperweights, lamps, door stoppers, ceramic sponges, toys and window stickers, amongst others. Students from both schools jointly developed these concepts.  The project gave the students an opportunity to understand the design process in their respective countries and also to develop cultural understanding in the context of product design.
