CANADIAN NATIONAL STUDENT MERIT AWARD IN PRODUCT DESIGN

On June 25, 2007 the winners of the inaugural Canadian National Student Merit Award in Product Design were announced. There was one winner in each of the award’s two categories, one for undergraduate work and the other at the post-graduate level.

This year’s winners are:

  • Vincent Arpin of the University of Montreal, winner at the undergraduate level, and
  • Cagla Dogan of the University of Calgary, winner at the graduate level
In addition, the following entrants received a special mention:

  • Alexandra Campbell, Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design
  • Jenna Stephen Wells, Carleton University
  • Tomas Valencia Palma, Université du Québec à Montréal
The goal of the award is simply to provide a social and academic context in which Canadian institutions devoted to the teaching of product design can collaborate to recognise outstanding work undertaken by Canadian students. The first cycle of the award was implemented under the supervision of Prof. Denis Gadbois from the Faculty of Environmental Design at the University of Calgary.
