Ankara (Turkey) - The winners of the Design Turkey 2008 Industrial Design Awards, an Icsid endorsed competition, were announced during the Awards Ceremony on October 21, 2008. Design Turkey Industrial Design Awards, organised within the framework of TURQUALITY® program, with the cooperation of Undersecreteraite of Turkish Prime Ministry for Foreign Trade, Turkish Exporters Assembly and Industrial Designers Society of Turkey, encourages qualified design and aims at guiding the strategies of Turkish industry and increasing design awareness in the society.

The jury, formed of 29 world-known experts, evaluated the 293 applications that passed the pre-evaluation phase. The applications were then graded in 3 categories: Good Design Awards, Superior Design Awards and TURQUALITY® Design Awards. In addition, 25 conceptual design projects were evaluated under the Conceptual Design Awards category in order to support them and potentially help them lead the industry towards the future.

39 products in 12 product classes were awarded with "Good Design Awards", 11 products with "Superior Design Awards" and 4 products with "TURQUALITY® Design Awards". Among the 25 conceptual design project applicants for the "ECO-DESIGN - Design Competition for Sustainable Environment", the award following with this year's theme, one project received the Conceptual Design Award.
