ASIA DESIGN NETWORK CONFERENCE 2008 CLOSES SUCCESSFULLY

Osaka (Japan) - The Asia Design Network Conference 2008 (ADNC 2008) was held from 26-27 November 2008 at the 'Osaka International Convention Centre' as a unique conference specialising in design promotion, co-sponsored by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and Icsid Promotional Member, the Japan Design Foundation.

The Asia Design Network Congerence was founded in 2003 to promote utilisation of design and upgrading design competency of countries and regions of Asia.

At this year's conference, participants exchanged opinions with design promotional organisations in Asian countries and regions (made up of six organisations, including the Japan Design Foundation) about their policies, including implementations of projects. Active discussions were also made on the commonly interested issues in Asia. Ms. Leimei Julia Chiu and Mr. Kazuo Tanaka, both Icsid Executive Board Members, joined this year's event.

More than 200 participants participated in the conference over the two days. Organisers hoped that 'ADNC 2008' would provide a good opportunity for all participants to recognise the future direction of design in Japan, design policies and the current condition in Asian countries, where dynamic growth is taking place.

More details of the forum and conference, including an article summarising the 'Design Policies for KANSEI Value Creation' speech by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan at the ADNC 2008 will be uploaded to the Japan Design Foundation's website shortly.
