Montreal (Canada) - During the Executive Board Meeting in Cape Town, South Africa in February, three new Icsid Members joined the network. Icsid is pleased to welcome Associação Objeto Brasil (Promotional Member), California College of the Arts (Educational Member) and Università Iuav di Venezia (Educational Member).

Chicago (United States) - The U.S. National Design Policy Initiative has published "Redesigning America's Future: Ten design policy proposals for the United States of America's economic competitiveness and democratic governance."

Pune (India) - 'Go Charger', the compact mechanical mobile charger designed by Icsid Corporate Member, Elephant Strategy + Design, has received the Plasticon 2009 award.

Madrid (Spain) - The Ministry of Science and Innovation and Icsid Promotional Member, Barcelona Design Centre (BDC), have announced the winners of the XVIII National Design Prizes.

Helsinki (Finland) - The winners have been announced for the Fennia Prize 2009 competition, organised by the Fennia Group and Icsid Promotional Member, Design Forum Finland.

Pasadena (United States) - The Art Center College of Design will host the eighth annual Summer Institute for Teachers, to show teachers how to incorporate practical design strategies into the K-12 classroom curriculum.

Montréal (Canada) - Luxembourg becomes the seventh city to adopt Montréal's Commerce Design concept, with the aim of rewarding merchants for the overall design quality of their premises and for showcasing the work of architects and designers.

Essen (Germany) - In light of the current challenges facing the economy today, Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen offers words of encouragement from Professor Dr. Peter Zec, Icsid Senator and initiator of the successful red dot design award.

Taipei (Taiwan) - Organised by Icsid Promotional Member Taiwan Design Center, the upcoming Taiwan International Young Designers' Exhibition (YODEX) will take place on 14-17 May at the Taipei World Trade Center.
