Beijing (China) - The 2009 China Red Star Design Award call for online applications closed successfully on 30 June 2009. With products from public devices, communications, electronics, home living, souvenirs, gifts, lighting and transportation tools, there were nearly 4000 entries submitted.

Melbourne (Australia) - A new publication for Victorian designers, The Case for Export, was launched by the Minister for Innovation, Gavin Jennings MLC, on 23 June 2009.

Essen (Germany) - More than 1,200 guests travelled from every continent on 29 June 2009, World Industrial Design Day, to attend the red dot award: product design award ceremony.

Gwangju (South Korea) - Under the theme "The Clue", Icsid Promotional Member the Gwangju Biennale Foundation will open its 3rd edition of the Gwangju Design Biennale on 18 September 2009.

Mumbai (India) - The call for papers is now open for the international conference 'Designing for Children,' taking place in Mumbai, India in February 2010.

Incheon (South Korea) - Design Korea 2009 International Conference invites the submission of a range of papers within the overarching theme of 'globalisation of design and design management.'

Seoul (South Korea) - Newly inaugurated as the chief design officer at the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Chung Kyung-won says design will be the key engine for the drive to make Seoul a global city through the 'Design Seoul' initiative.

Seoul (South Korea) - The Seoul Metropolitan Government calls for a wide variety of ideas with an ambition to turn Seoul into an "attractive global city" and "soft city". A part of the Seoul Design Olympiad 2009, an Icsid endorsed event, the Seoul Design Competition deadline for submissions is 15 July 2009.

Essen (Germany) - Tupperware, has been awarded the highest honorary distinction in the design world - the "red dot: design team of the year 2009". Tupperware's design team has consistently created best-in-class, innovative products which are showcased around the world.

Montreal (Canada) - Hosted by the Hungarian Design Council , the latest Icsid Executive Board meeting took place in Budapest, Hungary, from 16-17 May 2009.
