Changsha (China) - The final results for the first Lotus Cup International Industrial Design Innovation Award will be announced this weekend. The organisers of this Icsid endorsed event, the Hunan Provincial Government of China, received more than 2000 entries from the United States, Europe and Asia. From these entries, a shortlist of entries was selected in December to move on to the last round of assessment.

The final adjudication will be held on 10 January 2009, and the awarding ceremony will follow on 11 January, after the Hunan Industrial Design & Innovation Forum.

The Hunan Forum will bring together representatives from the provincial government, Science and Technology Agency, Radio and Television Board and leading international experts. Among these will be Icsid President Prof. Carlos Hinrichsen and Icsid Board Members Loraine Justice and Wen-long Chen. Together, with the competition winners and business representatives, the Forum participants will discuss industrial design in the context of present industrialisation, the global economic crisis, design opportunities, design innovation, sustainable design, design education and other pertinent topics.

The award-winning works will be exhibited in enterprises and education institutions throughout Hunan, and a catalogue of the 2008 "Lotus Cup" International Industrial Design Competition will be produced and published shortly after. All award-winning entries will be published and promoted on the event website and the allied website, Design Online.
