DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR DESIGN AVENUE - ICSID INTERDESIGN
Monterrey (Mexico) - The deadline for applications has been extended for the upcoming Icsid Interdesign Workshop: Design Avenue - A path to meaningful innovation. Those interested in participating still have until 16 February 2009 to complete the online application form.
Taking place in Monterrey, Mexico, from 25 May - 5 June 2009, Design Avenue will explore the intersection between business strategies, experience design, sustainable development with social responsibility and disruptive technologies, which will together generate new business opportunities through creative business models.

Workshop participants will seek to answer the following questions:
For two weeks, five multidisciplinary teams will work together to prove the statement "Design transforms knowledge into meaningful innovation." The aim is to show the value of design in a city that has openly declared its vocation to knowledge: "Monterrey ciudad del conocimiento" (Monterrey city of knowledge). This city is about to experience a fantastic journey of transformation from this motto to "Monterrey city of knowledge, culture and design."

About Icsid Interdesigns
An Interdesign is a two-week workshop where an international team of professionals work collaboratively on a predetermined issue of regional and/or international significance.
Since the first Interdesign workshop in 1971, Interdesign participants interact and cooperate with cross-disciplinary professionals from various parts of the world and present solutions that solicit a wide range of perspectives, ideas and concepts to solve a particular issue that is often applicable in other international contexts.

About ITESM
The Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM) is a private university in Mexico founded in 1943 by Eugenio Garza Sada, that has always expressed a strong support for entrepreneurship, social commitment and technological development.
The Interdesign workshop will take place at ITESM Campus Monterrey, which extends over 125 acres; including 8 classrooms buildings, a library, 5 administrative buildings, 5 cafeterias, 17 dormitories for students, a gymnasium, a theatre, a convention center, and a world-class football stadium.

- What strategies could be used to increase a "Design Culture" in a predominantly industrial city?
- What kind of sustainable and creative business models could be implemented to show the value of design-driven innovation?
