GERMAN DESIGN COUNCIL AND MESSE FRANKFURT LAUNCH DESIGN PLUS COMPETITION

Frankfurt (Germany) - Messe Frankfurt and Icsid Promotional member, the German Design Council, have announced the third edition of the Design Plus competition, to be awarded at the Material Vision trade fair and conference from 16-18 June 2009 in Frankfurt.

The Design Plus Award is given for outstanding and particularly innovative design. Open to manufacturers, designers and architects, who can apply with products that use innovative materials or production methods, the Design Plus Award is an outstanding marketing tool and, for the consumer, a sign of above-average product quality and innovativeness.

Detlef Braun, Member of the Board of Management of Messe Frankfurt, explains:

For more than 20 years, Messe Frankfurt has been conferring the Design Plus Award at various trade fairs - and in that time it has become one of the leading design awards in Germany. At Material Vision, we reward products which combine innovative and sustainable materials, successful design and intelligent functionality in some special way. For manufacturers and designers, recognition in the Design Plus Award provides a superb marketing tool, which signals to the consumer that the quality of the product is well above average.

Andrej Kupetz, General Manager of the German Design Council comments: "With the Design Plus competition, we are very pleased to be able to reward advanced design achievements in the field of new materials and manufacturing technology and to communicate these to a wide public."

Registration for the competition is possible only online at: www.material-vision.com. The deadline for registration is 31 March 2009.

A catalogue with illustrations and detailed information about the award-winning products will be published on the occasion of the competition.  All award-winning products will be on display during Material Vision from 16 to 18 June 2009 in the special Design Plus area located in the Forum at Messe Frankfurt.
