CITY MOVE INTERDESIGN PREPARATION CONTINUES
Gellivare (Sweden) - From 185 applicants, around 40 participants from around the world were selected to take part in the upcoming City Move - Icsid Interdesign Workshop, to take place in Gellivare from 22 March - 3 April. These voluntary participants will take design into new fields and hopefully become specialists in this new area.
Programme
In preparation for the workshop, organised in partnership with SVID, the preliminary programme for the two week workshop has been posted on the SVID website.

Preparation materials
A collection of documents and publications (shown above) will be sent to all of the participants to review in preparation for the workshop. For more information on these publications, contact the City Move organisers.
Preparatory meetings
In preparation for the workshop, a series of meetings were held to prepare the municipality. From 22-23 January, the municipality of Gellivare met with representatives of the municipality of Hällefors to hear stories from this community's transformation some years ago. The discussion looked at ways to make the move both attractive and safe at all stages.
On 29 January, SVID and the Gellivare Municipality hosted an 'Open Space' meeting with companies and contractors of the area. The meeting, looking at ways to profit economically from the move, was quite successful.

What is an Icsid Interdesign?
An interdesign is a two-week workshop where an international team of industrial designers and professionals from other disciplines come together to work collaboratively on a predetermined issue of regional and/or international significance. A host country identifies a particular problem specific to their country whose solution is applicable in other international contexts. Since the first interdesign workshop in 1971, Interdesign themes have ranged from being purely product design to opening discussions on general topics.
