Barcelona (Spain) - Hosted by Icsid Promotional Member, Barcelona Design Center (BCD), the BCN Design Week 2009 will open its doors from 26-30 October 2009. Positioned as a leading event for promoting and debating design, the event will be one of the various BCD activities planned during 2009 the European Year of Creativity and Innovation.

During BCN Design Week 2009, businesses of diverse productive or services sectors, professionals and experts of the world of design as well as prestigious speakers will give themselves appointment in a platform of experiences. The main topics to be addressed are Design Thinking and Creativity, Design Management, Mobile Design or Creativity and family business, among other topics.

The activities to be orgnised for this fourth edition will be held at top venues such as CaixaForum, MACBA, Casa Llotja de Mar and the Mies van der Rohe pavilion.

During 2009, the European Year of Creativity and Innovation is celebrated under the slogan "Imagine, create and innovate", an initiative that has as an objective to sensitise about the importance of creativity and innovation as strategic elements for personal, social and economic development.
 
By adding its projects and activities to the programme of this event, BCD wishes to cooperate in the task of providing information, raising awareness and promoting debate on creativity and innovation.

Among the several activities included in the BCD's action plan, the 2009 BCN Design Week will bring together companies from different production and service industries, professionals and experts from the design, creativity and innovation world at a forum in which to share and exchange know-how.

The European Year of Creativity and Innovation takes on special relevance in the current economic situation. One of the main messages that has come out of the initiative is that the European countries should not react to the crisis by cutting down on investment in creativity and innovation.
