Ahmedabad (India) - Three universal design labs will be introduced this year at the National Design Institute's three campuses: Ahmedabad, Ghandhinagar and Bangalore. These universal design labs have been created to cater to students irrespective of their branch of design, to evolve products that will make life easier through all demographics.

Montreal (Canada) - Icsid is proud to announce that the City of Montreal, Canada has proclaimed 29 June as World Industrial Design Day; the first city worldwide to officially commemorate World Industrial Design Day in acknowledgment of the importance of industrial design to its social and economic development.

Montreal (Canada) - During the Icsid Executive Board meeting that took place last month, three provisional members have been approved; Vancouver International Design Centre, Parco Scientifico e Tecnologico Galileo Scpa, and Woongjin Coway Co., Ltd.

Hong Kong - The Hong Kong Polytechnic University's School of Design exhibited student works for their annual show. This year's theme, "Food for Thought" focused on communicating design through the latest social networking technologies, of which a viral video named "Zombies' Conference" was created during brainstorming sessions.

Sydney (Australia) - Products including a new generation Cochlear implant system, revolutionary sheep drench gun, lightweight wine bottles, and the Design Award of the Year winner, the M8 Intensive Care, are among 42 winners in the 2010 Australian International Design Awards.

Sichuan (China) - China Red Star Design Award showcased in 2010 Sichuan Creative Design and Product Promotional Conference. Vice Governor, Mr. Li Chengyun, highly appreciated the significance of Red Star and encouraged local enterprises to apply for the China Red Star Design Awards.

Essen (Germany) - A completely new perspective for looking at design and business is now provided by the book "Design Value - A Strategy for Business Success". The two authors, design expert Professor Dr. Peter Zec and Burkhard Jacob, for the first time present a method that makes it possible to measure the value which companies generate through design.

Montreal (Canada) - INDIGO, the International Indigenous Design Network, has launched Mother Tongue, an innovative online exhibition that seeks to capture the power of language - verbal and visual, formal and informal.
