The best way to celebrate Torino’s nomination as World Design Capital 2008 is with a major public event, the countdown people look forward to most: New Year’s Eve.
On the night of December 31, 2007 the city will colour itself green. Piazza Castello will be the stage of a big event for the people of Torino and for the many tourists taking advantage of the holidays to visit the city. Avant-garde lights and sounds, backdrops, video projections, performances, concerts and the time-honored explosion of fireworks – all in shades of green for the occasion.
The design of New Year’s Eve 2008 won’t be the only characteristic element of the various artistic phases of the festivities. The experience and public participation are the keys to this spectacular moment of celebration, a message that will accompany the public throughout the year.
