International Federation on Ageing

SHAPING TOMORROW TODAY
The IFA's 9th Global Conference on Ageing offers a large number of symposia, workshop and paper sessions of interest to designers. The themes "Create an Enabling Environment" and "Ageing in Place" are attracting designers the world over.

Spotlight on Age-Friendly Cities at IFAs Global Conference
Established in 2006, the Age-Friendly Cities project will be a highlight of this year's IFA Global Conference. This initiative stems from the Policy Framework on Active Ageing (2002) by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the commitment of many governments and NGOs. Today, it includes some 40 cities internationally.

Conference programme is now online
A total of 56 symposia, 215 paper sessions, 29 workshops and 30 posters will be included in the event's programme.

Observeur

DESIGN OBSERVEUR
Awards ceremony and exhibition
After careful screening by the selection committee, the final designs, selected from the call for entries in June, will be awarded the Observeur du design label and presented in both the exhibition at the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie in Paris, France and the catalogue.

These designs are then presented to the Stars of the Observeur jury, chaired by Yann Barbaux EADS Innovation Works Executive Director, who will award "Stars of the Observeur" to the most remarkable designs. These winners will be announced during the exhibition opening ceremony.

Intelligent Living Spaces Competition

2008 INTELLIGENT LIVING SPACES COMPETITION
This competition aims to encourage participants to display their creative spirit, using such human concerns as senior citizens' apprehension towards technology and the technology's deterioration of traditional interpersonal relationships as a starting point. Participants will create intelligent living spaces of the future, providing industry benchmarks, improving the quality of life for the end user and increasing the overall competitiveness of the science and technology industries.

Seoul Design Olympiad 2008

SEOUL DESIGN OLYMPIAD
Organized by Seoul Metropolitan Government, in partnership with Seoul Design Centre, the event is also celebrating Seoul's designation as the World Design Capital in 2010. The entire event consists of Seoul Design Competition & Awards, Conference, Exhibition and Festival.

SHANGHAI INTERNATIONAL CREATIVE INDUSTRY WEEK

The recent launch of australiandesign.org marks another success in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of design excellence in Australia. The winning designs of the Australian International Design Awards are now available in the Icsid Galleria.

17TH BRAUNPRIZE 2009
Call for entries
The BraunPrize seeks to promote the work of young designers from all over the world. This internationally recognised design competition is open to young industrial designers who are still studying or who have graduated within the last two years.

Current industrial design students as well as recent graduates are invited to submit their product concepts to Braun (the participation is free of charge).

The winner of the BraunPrize will receive EUR 12,000 in prize money and a (paid) six-month internship in the Design Department at Braun. Other finalists will each receive a prize of EUR 5,000.
