Shaping the Global Design Agenda

The purpose of good policy is to offer effective actions that achieve desired outcomes. In a rapidly globalising world, those countries and regions that develop policies to stimulate design in their economies will be better equipped to survive the challenges that lie ahead.

Internationally, there is a wealth of evidence to show that governments are beginning to take design seriously as a strategic tool for supporting innovation, increasing competitiveness, communicating cultural identity and contributing to improved quality of life.

An international conference on design policy

Shaping the global design agenda is an International Conference on Design Policy targeted at design promoters, government policy makers, industrialists, academics, educators and designers.

The Conference will provide a global platform for the high-level exchange of ideas, insights and best practice from different countries, regions and cities developing, launching and maintaining effective design polices.

Some of the most prestigious international bodies linked to design will temporarily find a 'home' in Torino to present their own national design situation through exhibitions and events. They will bring to Torino an original and simultaneous vision on how the cultures of design are expressed in other parts of the world. Exhibitors confirmed include Austria, Belgium, Central and Eastern Europe, France, Japan (City of Nagoya), Norway, Singapore, Spain (City of Barcelona), Sweden and The Netherlands (City of Rotterdam).

The exhibitions are located in different and unusual venues across the city of Torino.
