This year, Icsid celebrates 50 years of achievement in industrial design. Through a series of events and initiatives, the evolution of the organisation will be presented and celebrated. Hungary’s main annual design event, the Design Week celebrates design in its various forms. The Icsid 50 event will take place at the Moholy-Nagy Art University. It will celebrate the anniversary and honour the contribution of those who first joined Icsid in 1971 and the people behind three successful Interdesigns. Posters and presentations will highlight the accomplishments and mission of Icsid.

Triennial of Design, Brussels – BelgiumHosted by Design Flanders

Icsid will join Design Flanders to celebrate the 5th edition of its Triennial of Design on December 13, 2007. The City of Brussels hosted the Icsid Secretariat between 1974 and 1986 and has held a special place in Icsid’s history, which makes for a great way to conclude the year’s celebrations. This year’s Triennial will take the theme of beauty as a discriminating factor between everyday products and designer objects. A new exhibition will show the results of a study and subsequent research bureau into the criteria that define beauty and why people are drawn to some objects and not others.
