Industrial design is 'open' and so is our invitation. All are welcome to celebrate World Industrial Design Day on Friday 28 June with the Victorian Industrial Design Practice Group. There won't be a parade; there won't be a festival, just a room full of designers and industry members with some of the best beer in Melbourne at the Mountain Goat Brewery. Like last year, it promises to be an exciting night to meet old friends and find some new ones.

An event by Design Institute of Australia’s South Australia Branch, D13 The Arkidelo Design Graduate Exhibition and Experience Plus will be held in Adelaide (Autralia) on 28 June and will bring together a panel of experts to discuss the changing technologies and effects it will have on industrial design and manufacturing.
On 29 June 2013, Form Designs will celebrate World Industrial Design Day over breakfast, eating eggs as a solute to nature's greatest industrial design project. An egg has enough data in it to produce, engineer and develop a living being on its own. It has the materials to turn chemicals into life. This year, the Icsid Secretariat is celebrating World Industrial Design Day in Montreal with a special free screening of 'Design & Thinking' a documentary film released last year from Taiwan Design Center. Join us at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts for the screening Friday 28 June at 19:00.
Vancouver Design Bureau is launching 'Ingrained: A Furniture Design Exhibition' in celebration of World Industrial Design Day. Local design professionals and students are invited to the opening reception on June 29, 7-11pm to see the exhibition and share their experience in the field of design.
Duoc UC, the largest industrial design community in Chile will host a 24 hour design marathon. 10 teams of students have been tasked with developing a new bottle of wine for Carmenere from Chile. This activity not only celebrates World Industrial Design Day but it also commemorates the Icsid Interdesign that took place 10 years ago at DuocUC.
China (People’s Republic of China)
Beijing Industrial Design Centre (BIDC) will celebrate World Industrial Design Day with many activities, involving its award scheme China Red Star Design Awards, visits to industrial design studios in Beijing, the 3D Experience Museum, design festivals and a meeting between the Beijing Municipal Government and BIDC to start identifying a Beijing Creative Design Center.
PD studio joins this global celebration by developing a series of activities that the local community can join. They hope to frame industrial design as 'open' as it can be perceived everywhere and in every moment of life. PD studio will open their doors and offer a tour of their studio and manufacturing process, they will launch their first furniture line and exhibit the works of other prominent Colombian designers.
The University of the Aegean is celebrating World Industrial Design Day with its first industrial design exhibition in Athens. The Department of Product and Systems Design Engineering will organise this retrospective of work from third and forth-year students as well as recent graduates. In addition there will be a presentation of projects that were carried out in collaboration with Greek companies and NGOs, demonstrating the bridging efforts between academia and the design market.
To celebrate World Industrial Design Day, Vidya Darshan Rana Charitable Trust in alliance with S.S. Rana & Co. will be organising 'Creatio' for the second time. Tata Elxsi announced the launch of the second edition of Ignite Design Contest which aims to encourage young designers to enable change through design. The contest is part of connect D – an annual event organized by Tata Elxsi to commemorate World Industrial Design Day 29 June.

The best projects will receive financial assistance.
PhilippinesUST-HID in Manila (Philippines) created a challenge open to industrial design students of the Royal and Pontifical University of Sto. Tomas. Coinciding with this year’s theme, industrial design is open, they are calling on students to create a list of 24 products, one for each hour of the day, that they can’t live without. The winner will be announced on 27 June at the World Industrial Design Day event where a design lecture and exhibition will take place.

The Andalucian Designers Association (Diseñadores de Andalucía) is celebrating World Industrial Design Day by offering a Spanish translation of the Icsid Code of Ethics. They have shared this with the Spanish design community emphasising that the articles of this code should not be considered mutually exclusive from each other, but applied in a consistent and holistic practice of everyday industrial design. Taiwan (Chinese Taipei)The Taipei City Government and Taiwan Design Center will celebrate the 6th annual World Industrial Design Day in collaboration with Shih Chien University and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark from 22 June to 3 July 2013. The programme consists of a four-day Taipei International Design Workshop, a press conference, a design film, and design talks. Also taking place is the 2013 Taipei World Design Conference – 'Taiwan X Denmark', which will cover themes such as social design and sustainable living. Designers and the general public will be able to enjoy a variety of design events.
Vestel Electronics is planning an event in İzmir (Turkey) in collaboration with Yaşar University Department of Industrial Design. A television frame will be designed with a graphic formed using the words that relate industrial design to students. The final design will be produced by Vestel and exhibited in Yaşar University Faculty of Art and Design. Exhibition will start on June 29 in honour of World Industrial Design Day.

United StatesLUMIUM is proud to launch ILLUNOVA 2013, a global product design competition on the occasion of World Industrial Design Day (WIDD). This year, on 25 June, la Red Venezolana de Diseño (Venezuelan design network) will hold a conference on industrial design in Venezuela with Elina Pérez Urbaneja, a researcher who focuses on the history of Venezuelan industrial design. The conference is supported by Cultura Chacao, the organisation responsible for developing municipal cultural policies to encourage participation and promote programmes and art projects, tourism and training for the benefit of citizens.
The University Institute of Technology Antonio Jose de Sucre in San Cristobal (Venezuela) conducted a series of lectures with local industrial designers and two designers from New York and Bogota who joined via video conference. The event called "ensemble of ideas" included students and professional designers, as well as enthusiasts from the community to discuss how industrial design influences our lives.
